Through his attorney, Gilani contested the NAB court’s jurisdiction after the Supreme Court upheld the NAB’s modifications.

Judge Abid Sajjad of the accountability court in Islamabad has sent a notice to NAB asking them to clarify whether or not the Toshakhana matter is within their purview following preliminary arguments.

The hearing on the petition has been postponed by the court until September 26.

Toshakhana reference
The former heads of state were the subject of a reference from the NAB to the accountability court for failing to deposit expensive cars and presents from foreign leaders into the treasury.

According to NAB sources, Asif Ali Zardari, the former president, only paid 15% of the total cost of the cars he got as presents through fictitious accounts.

According to the reports, Zardari did not deposit the luxurious cars he received as a gift from Libya and the UAE while serving as president in the Tosha Khana.

As prime ministers, Nawaz Sharif and Yousaf Raza Gillani also accepted cars as gifts from various foreign dignitaries, but they kept them for personal use rather than putting them in the national coffers.
