The Meta-owned messaging app, WhatsApp, is rolling out a shortcut to open the “AI-powered chats” in a new update through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 23.24.10.71 on iPhones, WABetaInfo reported.
The update was earlier announced for the Andriod versions of the app but now, it will be rolled out for the iOS as well.
So what’s the new update about?
“WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that adds a shortcut to open AI-powered chats from the Chats tab, and it’s available to some users,” the WhatsApp news tracker said in its latest article.
The upcoming addition to the app underscores the company’s commitment to highlighting and seamlessly integrating AI-assisted interactions into the daily use of the messaging app.
As seen in this screenshot, there is a new button (bottom right) within the navigation bar in the chats tab on WhatsApp, which enables users to quickly open the AI-powered chat.
As per WABetaInfo, the AI-powered chats are still exclusively available to a specific user group, and the timeline for a broader release remains unknown.
Some users who install the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store may be able to experiment with the upcoming feature.
The newly introduced feature will allow the users to directly access AI-powered chats from the Chats Tab without having to navigate through the chat list to find the previous interaction with the AI.
The benefit of the shortcut is to reduce the time and effort required to initiate these specialised conversations.
Moreover, “placing the shortcut prominently in the Chats tab ensures users are well-informed about this feature, encouraging the integration of AI-assisted interactions into their regular use of the messaging app”.
After the beta testers, the update will soon be rolled out to more users.
