The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former fast bowler Waqar Younis as his cricket advisor.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took the choice to assign the 52-year-old to this crucial position by using his constitutional authority.

Prior to formally taking over as Chairman on Tuesday, Australian Waqar Younis held a lengthy conversation with Chairman Naqvi.

Waqar Younis, who has a plethora of expertise in bowling and head coaching, is well-known for his efforts to the Pakistan cricket team. He presently holds an advising position.

The former fast bowler, prominent cricket commentator, and head coach will be in charge of many areas of the Pakistan cricket squad.

In addition to working with the national selection committee, supervising coaches’ activities, and formulating game plans, his duties also include handling cricket matters both domestically and internationally. The national cricket team’s administrative affairs will still be managed by Naqvi.

The cricket world has greeted Younis’s appointment with great enthusiasm, acknowledging that his honest and amiable demeanour will benefit Pakistani cricket.

Younis is well-known for his outstanding bowling career. He has taken five wickets in an innings 22 times and has taken ten wickets in five Test matches. His best bowling stats were 7 for 76.

His greatest One Day International (ODI) performance was 7 for 36. He played for Pakistan in 262 ODI matches, capturing 416 wickets, including five-wicket hauls on 13 occasions.
