“American businesses play a leading role in progress and development in Pakistan,” stated U.S. Ambassador Blome during his visit to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce.
Over 80 American companies, he claimed, directly and indirectly provide jobs for 120,000 Pakistanis and over a million more receive benefits from them.
According to Blome, these American businesses train Pakistanis for the highest technical and managerial positions in addition to bringing investment into the country.
He claimed that after leaving their positions, these workers start and manage their own businesses, creating new employment prospects for Pakistanis.
He emphasized how they help the private sector adopt American ideals of openness, transparency, and civic engagement. In addition to supporting local communities, they spearhead important research and development.
Blome stated that these efforts include transferring eco-friendly technologies to Pakistani stakeholders, increasing the participation of women in the agriculture supply chain, and offering local farmers training programs based on mentorship.
The restoration and completion of the Mangla, Tarbela, Gomal Zam, Satpara, and Golen Gol hydroelectric projects are among the infrastructure projects that have benefited from U.S. assistance, he added.
