The Sunni Ittehad Council’s appeal for the reserved NA seats is expected to be reviewed at the meeting, which will also allocate the political parties’ share of the reserved seats for today.
The Sunni Ittehad Council will receive reserved seats in the National Assembly at a ratio of 4.5 if their petition is accepted. The sources further state that in the event that the petition is denied, the surviving political parties would be allotted seats at a ratio of three.
Prior to this, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received a petition for reserved seats from the Sunni Ittehad Council.
As part of their legislative plan, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the party’s supported independent candidates, who won the general elections in 2024 in the Centre, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will affiliate with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
In accordance with the party’s resolution, the candidate’s national and provincial assembly parliamentarians have begun to file affidavits, formally proclaiming their connection with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
Throughout the process of announcing the results, the Independent candidates supported by the PTI maintained their advantage over conventional political parties in the general elections of 2024, particularly in the National and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies.
As of now, results have been released, and 101 seats have been won by independent candidates. It is noteworthy that nine of these 101 independent candidates are general independents, and 92 of them have the backing of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
With 75 seats, the PML-N is in second place, while the PPP has gained 54 seats. IPP and BNP each won two seats, while MQM-P got seventeen, JUI-F four, and PML-Q three.
