PTA sources claim that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has sent data to the authority, and that on August 16 the procedure to block the simulators would begin.

According to the details, SIMs registered on cancelled and phoney CNICs would be blocked in the first phase, and SIMs registered at expired CNICs would be blocked in the second.

According to the sources, SIMs linked to the CNICs of deceased individuals will be blocked during the third and final phase.

The federal government was prohibited by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) from obstructing non-filers’ Subscriber Identity Modules.

The ruling was issued by IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq in response to a writ case that the cellular operator had filed.

The Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Income Tax General Orders against non-filers and Clause 114-B of the Income Tax Ordinance were both contested in the case.

According to the petitioner, Article 18 of the Constitution’s fundamental right to commercial independence was breached by the tax regulator’s newly acquired authority.
