The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) directed the returning officer (RO) for Gujrat to expeditiously accept the nomination papers of five candidates, which includes Qaisera Elahi, the wife of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi.
The candidates filed complaints with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), claiming that the returning officer was not there when they tried to submit their nomination papers for the by-election in the provincial constituency of PP-32.
The ECP responded to these allegations by issuing formal instructions to the appropriate returning officer, directing them to accept the nomination papers from the candidates.
The provincial seat of PP-32 became vacant as Chaudhry Salik Hussain kept his position as MNA.
The by-election for the constituency is slated to occur on April 21.
