The announcement published here states that the summer break will be celebrated from June 1 to July 31 in all Sindhi public and private institutions.

“All public and private institutions under the administrative authority of the School Education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh must stay closed from June 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, as summer vacation, in accordance with decisions agreed in the steering committee meeting,” the notification said.

The Sindh government was considering announcing early summer holidays for the entire province because of the persistent warmth.

The Met Department refuted reports of a heatwave in Karachi during the current month, which led to a modification in the decision.

The Punjab government declared early summer holidays for all public and private schools yesterday because of the current heat wave.

A announcement states that Punjab’s government and private schools will be closed from May 25 to August 15.

The government was contacted by many private schools for early summer holidays, according to a statement released by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

The government had earlier declared that, in observance of summer vacation, all Punjabi public and private schools would be closed from June 1 to August 14, 2024.

Heatwave warning
The Met office said that heatwave conditions, particularly over Punjab and Sindh, are expected to emerge over most of the country from May 21 due to the high pressure in the upper atmosphere. From May 23 to 27, these conditions are expected to intensify into severe heatwave conditions.

In Sindh and Punjab, daytime highs are predicted to stay between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius above average from May 21 to May 23, and between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius from May 23 to May 27.
