In anticipation of seeing the Ramadan moon that evening on March 11 (Monday), the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has scheduled a meeting in Peshawar.
Following the Asr prayers, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the chairman of the committee, will preside over the meeting.
In the meanwhile, meetings of several zonal committees would be held in their respective territories to receive and evaluate reports of moon sightings.
The holy month will begin on March 12 (Tuesday) if the crescent is seen.
In the meantime, residents of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are urged to search for the Ramadan moon on March 10 in the evening.
The ninth month of the Islamic calendar is observed by the devout with prayers and fasting. It is during this month that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received the revelation of the Holy Quran.
Muslims fast from dawn (Fajr) until dusk (Maghreb) throughout Ramadan.
