Shaheen Afridi responds to reports of “surgery” on the national team

The left-arm pacer was asked to comment on a “major surgery” that was anticipated for the national team’s setup during his interaction with the media in London.

“Is someone sick, whose surgery?” Inquired Shaheen.

“Remove me from politics, please. Please feel free to ask any cricket-related queries, he urged.

The runner went on to say that he was unaware of any prospective team changes.

In addition, Shaheen Afridi acknowledged that India was a deserving winner of the just ended T20 World Cup 2024, following their thrilling victory over South Africa in the championship match.

Both teams played well, and I had fun watching the game. Whichever team is able to withstand the pressure that day wins. India deserved to win because they played a solid brand of cricket, Shaheen Afridi told reporters.

After the team’s early elimination from the major event, the left-arm pacer admitted that the team’s faults needed to be addressed.

“World Cup competitions include strong teams who qualify through a rigorous process. I believe that if we put in a lot of effort and make a few corrections, we will see results, Afridi stated.

It is important to note that Pakistan is facing controversy following their disastrous performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The tournament’s group stage saw the 2009 winners eliminated, primarily as a result of their shocking loss to the USA and their heartbreaking loss to India, their bitter rivals.

Following two straight losses, Pakistan were certain to be eliminated from the competition early, and their official campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 came to an end when the USA and Ireland called off their pivotal group-stage match.

GHQ Attack Case: Prosecution Seeks Bail Cancellation of CM KP & Other Accused, Indicts 9 More

25 defendants, including PTI officials, have non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Anti Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi for their failure to show up for court proceedings related to the GHQ attack case.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah added nine more suspects to the GHQ attack indictment list during today’s ATC Court sessions, bringing the total to 98.

Among the 61 defendants who appeared in court were Shah Mehmud Qureshi and the founder of the PTI.

Among those charged are Khadim Hussain Khokhar, Mehr Mohammad Javed, Chaudhary Asif, Zakir Ullah, Azeem Ullah, Shireen Mazatri, Major Retired Tahir Sadiq, and former MPA Rashid Hafeez.

A plea to cancel the bail of 23 suspects, including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has also been filed by the prosecution side.

In the GHQ attack, there were 119 accused in total.
