Judge Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC made the decision while considering appeals pertaining to the pollution problem in Lahore and other regions of Punjab.
Wintertime air density is higher than summertime air density, which leads to the downward movement of airborne pollutants and other harmful particles. Consequently, a region becomes covered with a layer of contaminated particles, which include a lot of carbon and smoke.
In a written ruling, the LHC permitted eateries in Lahore to stay open from Sehr to Iftar time and directed the education department to make sure that a hands-on activity takes place in schools once a week to raise students’ knowledge of environmental issues.
