Prior to this, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, the health minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced the continuation of the Health Card Plus program, which offers free medical care at the province’s hospitals.

Speaking at a news conference, Minister Shah outlined the program’s launch in 2015, which covered four districts at first and would cost 18 billion rupees a year by 2020 when it covered the whole province.

The program, which has received recognition for its effective execution, provides 1800 free medical treatments at 118 public and private hospitals across a range of specializations. Minister Shah highlighted the long-term nature of the Health Card initiative and disclosed an extra 5 billion rupees allocated for hospital counter reopenings.
