According to sources, the PTI political committee decided to postpone the protest during one of its meetings.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which is scheduled to take place in the nation’s capital on October 15 and 16, caused the PTI political committee to postpone its demonstration at Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
Following an official communication from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on behalf of the government, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced in a statement that his party has chosen to postpone its “peaceful” demonstration.
Barrister Gohar stated that Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, would receive a medical examination from the government and that his access to his doctor would be restored.
The PTI chairman continued, “As part of this assurance, doctors are expected to visit Adiala Jail this morning.”
According to Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Mohsin Naqvi, the Interior Minister, provided an assurance on behalf of the government.
The prime ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the vice president of Iran and the Indian minister of external affairs, will represent the SCO members.
The PTI is ready to stage a protest march in Islamabad on October 15, according to statements made earlier by Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur.
Ali Amin Gandapur, speaking to reporters at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, said, “We are coming to Islamabad tomorrow (October 15), and we are ready as always.”
The PTI’s concerns on Imran Khan’s health, the party founder who is incarcerated, were also conveyed by the chief minister.
Ali Amin Gandapur stated, “We are compelled by the government to hold a protest demonstration in support of our demands because we are extremely concerned about Imran Khan’s health.”
Noteworthy here is the statement made by Information Minister Atta Tarar, who hinted at severe measures against the PTI-planned rallies, stating that no one will be let to interfere with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Islamabad.
“Those with a mindset to plot against the nation ought to stay at home because no miscreant will be permitted to sabotage the SCO Summit in Islamabad,” Atta Tarar told the press.
The minister declared that all necessary preparations have been made for Islamabad to receive international delegations, including 12 heads of state, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference, which is set for October 15–16.
He made reference to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which had declared to stage protests in the upcoming days, saying, “The announcements (for protest) do not make any difference as Islamabad has been made fully safe and secure.”
