Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to provide diplomatic, moral, and political assistance for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and UN resolutions.

As the country marked Kashmir Solidarity Day, the prime minister spoke at the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s special session in Muzaffarabad.

He maintained that Kashmir cannot be subjected to any unilateral settlement by India. He claimed that Pakistan’s foreign policy has placed a high priority on Kashmir.

According to the prime minister, Pakistan has always advocated for Kashmir in international fora. The people of Pakistan, he remarked, embrace this resolution.

According to Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the only way to resolve the Kashmir dispute is by a plebiscite held under UN auspices, in accordance with UN resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri people.

As a mostly Muslim region of British India, Jammu and Kashmir ought to have become a part of Pakistan, according to the prime minister, but the aspirations of the Kashmiri people were thwarted by force and plots.

After much fight, he continued, the region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was emancipated, and Pakistan is still dedicated to its advancement.

According to the prime minister, India brought the conflict before the UN, which acknowledged the disputed area and resolved in favour of a free and fair vote to be conducted under UN auspices.

He claimed that despite the passage of decades, the people living in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir had not been given the chance to determine their own destiny.

Anwaar ul Haq Kakar urged India to honour its commitments made before the UN Security Council and above all to the people of IIOJK, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people.
