Parvez Elahi declares his intention to run in the Gujrat PP-32 by-election.

Parvez Elahi, the president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has made the decision to run in the next by-elections, which are scheduled for April 21.

Elahi plans to run in the Gujrat by-election from the PP-32 seat. Following Chaudhry Salik Hussain’s retention of his MNA seat, the seat fell vacant. The family members signed the nomination papers for the by-election after meeting Parvez Elahi in jail.

The election calendar for the nationwide by-elections to the National Assembly and provincial assembly seats has been released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The notification states that on April 21, there will be nationwide by-elections to fill vacant seats in the national and provincial assemblies. These were two from each of the assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, twelve from the Punjab Assembly, and six from the National Assembly.

On April 21, there will also be by-elections for a single Sindh Assembly seat.

According to the election timetable, candidates had from March 16 to March 18 to submit nomination papers to the appropriate returning authorities. On March 18, the identities of the candidates would be made public. The deadline for reviewing the candidates’ candidacies is March 21. By March 25, appeals of the returning officers’ decisions to accept or reject the nominations may be made.

The updated list of candidates is scheduled to be released on March 28. The deadline for withdrawing from consideration and accessing the updated list is set for March 29.

On March 30, election symbols would be assigned, and on April 21, polls would be held.
