As to the study, Pakistan has risen three spots to claim the 161st rank in the worldwide Human Development Index (HDI) rankings.

Pakistan was rated 164th with 0.540 points in the previous survey, which indicates a modest fall from that ranking this year.

South Asia’s best scorer is Sri Lanka, which is rated 78th with 0.780 points. Bangladesh is ranked 129th with 0.670 points, while India is ranked 134th with 0.644 points. Afghanistan is at the bottom of the area, ranking 182nd with 0.462 points, just above the 10 lowest, while Nepal is ranked 146th.

Norway is in first place with 0.966 points, followed by Switzerland in 193rd place with 0.380 points. Somalia is at the bottom of the list with 0.380 points.

With its inclusion of variables including life expectancy, educational attainment, and per capita income, the HDI functions as a complete metric. The Human Development Report was first published in 1990 with the assistance of the late Dr. Mahbubul Haq, a former finance minister of Pakistan. Its goal is to shed light on patterns in world development.

Concerned about the growing gap in human development between rich and poor countries, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner emphasized the pressing need for international cooperation in tackling global issues.
