ISLAMABAD Wheat imports are no longer permitted, according to the Caretaker Federal Government of Pakistan, as reported by ARY News, citing sources.
Reportedly, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decided against allowing wheat imports at the state level because Pakistan possesses sufficient stockpiles and its flour prices remain steady.
Pakistan has sufficient wheat reserves to cover its demands, according to government sources.
The ECC was briefed on wheat supplies by the Ministry of National Food Security, and the committee praised the ministry’s actions in this respect. This led to the decision.
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet authorised a 7.15 billion rupee Technical Supplementary Grant for Federal Education and Professional Training yesterday.
The Economic Coordination Committee met in Islamabad today, with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, the Minister of Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs, presiding over the approval.
The 7th Population and Housing Census Technical Supplementary Grant of four billion rupees was also approved by the Economic Coordination Committee.
The ECC also authorised a Technical Supplementary Grant under a Japanese grant for Lahore’s clean drinking water supply and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rural roads devastated by flooding.
The Committee approved the summary of the all-inclusive Sustainable Plan for Gilgit-Baltistan’s Subsidised Wheat Price Rationalisation.
In addition, further funding of 1591.624 million rupees was allocated for the purpose of recruiting experts and purchasing servers.
The Ministry of Aviation has been cleared to receive a 500 million rupee Technical Supplementary Grant by the Economic Coordination Committee.
