Today is World Maritime Day, which is being celebrated globally all over the world.

The phrase “navigating the future: safety first!” stands as this year’s theme for the day. The concept is a reflection of the efforts that the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) is making to improve maritime safety and security, in addition to protecting the marine environment.

Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, has underlined Pakistan’s commitment to the preservation of maritime ecosystems and coastal areas by addressing major concerns such as marine pollution and climate change in his speech that was delivered on this day.

He has stated that the maritime sector is the backbone of global trade, which contributes to economic growth, creates jobs, and facilitates international cooperation.

A more efficient and secure shipping environment was promoted by the President, who also emphasised the critical role that improving marine safety and security plays in achieving this goal.
