The Punjab chief minister fed the inmates at Iftar and gave them gifts, clothes, and Rs 15,000 instead of socializing with the visitors.
A video uploaded by Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb showed CM Maryam Nawaz giving women convicts samosas, pakoras, fruits, and food. She toured various jail sections and planted a seedling in Kot Lakhpat Jail’s gardens.
She visited her father and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s jail cell. She grew emotional, recalling her incarceration days.
Maryam spoke to prisoners and investigated their challenges, in addition to meeting jail officials.
The chief minister also opened a 20-bed Central Jail drug rehab hospital. Maryam launched the first prisoner video call service.
CM Maryam visited the jail kitchen to inspect prisoner food.
