As to the ICC’s statement, Shah will take over the position starting from December 1, 2024.

Jay Shah has been unanimously elected as the upcoming Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC announced that Shah, who has held the position of BCCI Honorary Secretary since October 2019 and Chair of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021, will officially take on this esteemed position on December 1, 2024.

To clarify, Jay Shah became the only candidate for the position because Greg Barclay, who is from New Zealand, decided not to run for a third term.

Upon being elected as the Independent ICC Chairman, Jay Shah expressed his intentions to bolster the global appeal of cricket. He additionally claimed that the inclusion of the sport in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 would have a crucial impact on its development.

“I feel honored to be nominated as the Chair of the International Cricket Council,” Shah expressed.
