The latest MDCAT exam for admission to medical and dentistry colleges was challenged in a petition filed with the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which ordered Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University (SZAB) to administer a new entrance exam within a month.
The petition was granted by IHC Justice Arbab Tahir when the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) revealed that a number of the MDCAT exam’s questions were not included in the curriculum.
Justice Salahuddin Panhwar of the Sindh High Court had earlier ordered that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) be retaken in four weeks after receiving complaints about irregularities in the test procedure.
According to Justice Panhwar, who presided over the case alongside Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, “We cannot leave students in a state of uncertainty.” Panhwar stressed the significance of clarification for students. Several petitions claiming inconsistencies in the MDCAT exam prompted the directive, with the court emphasizing the necessity of an open and equitable procedure to protect students’ futures.
