The government will roll out new banknotes by December, according to State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmed.
Informing the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, the Governor of the State Bank stated that by the end of this year, the State Bank will internally complete the requirements for establishing new banknotes.
As the plastic money is put to the test and issued in accordance with public acceptance, the longevity of the notes is being examined, he stated.
The IMF Loan Program was updated by Muhammad Aurangzeb, the federal minister of finance and revenue, who was also in attendance.
He said he was optimistic that the negotiations are moving forward well and that the IMF Executive Board would likely approve the program in September.
