first polio case of 2024 reported in Pakistan

A representative for the National Ministry of Health stated that a youngster from Dera Bugti who was 2.5 years old had the poliovirus.

According to those with knowledge of the development, the child’s samples were taken on February 22 and examined at the National Institute of Health.

The youngster with the polio was a member of Union Council No. 3 UC of Sui, Dera Bugti. The child’s polio virus is genetically linked to Quetta, according to authorities at the National Institutes of Health.

According to the sources, “the affected child had received the polio vaccination seven times during the routine immunization campaigns.”

They also mentioned that this year, the polio virus was found in 46 sewage samples around the nation. a unique polio campaign in nine Balochistani areas would start on March 24.
