The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises meeting at the Finance Division was presided over by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The National Highway Authority and Pakistan Post Office Department should be classified as essential SOEs under the SOEs Policy 2023, according to a proposal made by the Ministry of Communications.
The committee decided to approve both proposals.
To strategically classify defense production institutions such as POF, HIT, PAC, KS&EW, NRTC, and TIP, the Ministry of Defence Production put in a proposal.
It was agreed that this idea should be submitted to the cabinet again.
The Ministry of Energy suggested the reorganization of the CPPA-G, PPMC, and PITC boards, along with the appointment of independent and ex-officio directors. This idea was accepted as well.
The proposal by the Ministry of Water Resources to designate WAPDA as a critical SOE was accepted. It was mandated that WAPDA harmonize the SOEs Act with its Governing Act.
