The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has escalated its initiatives to combat gas theft in Sindh and Balochistan, leading to recent arrests and operations.

The theft control unit, in conjunction with the consumer relations department, attained significant outcomes. Recent operations in Karachi resulted in the apprehension of the proprietors of a confectionery and an auto parts service station implicated in gas theft.

During these operations, SSGC personnel severed approximately 3,029 illicit domestic connections. In Karachi, more than 2,609 illicit subterranean and overhead connections were severed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Lyari, Malir, and Baldia Town. Furthermore, 20 illicit connections were eliminated in Nawabshah and Larkana.

To avert future thefts, the service lines and apparatus utilized for gas theft have been severed. Theft of gas undermines the integrity of legal and regulatory frameworks, hence hindering law enforcement efforts.
