All provincial election commissioners were given instructions by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday to inform the media of any updates pertaining to the 2024 general elections.
The Election Commission’s spokeswoman stressed the need of keeping lines of communication open with media representatives in a letter to the four provincial election commissioners.
The letter made clear that nationwide voting procedures are the main priority as plans for the general elections of 2024 are already well under way.
The representative emphasised how crucial it is to give the people fast and accurate information, as the polling is set to take place tomorrow. This election, which will take place in 855 seats for national and provincial legislatures, marks a turning point in Pakistan’s democratic history.
Important election-related logistics were also revealed in the letter, including the startling statistic that there are 12 crore 85 lakh 85 thousand 760 registered voters in the country.
In addition, it said that a vast system of 90,675 polling places has been set up, and 1,490,000 election workers are prepared to carry out their responsibilities with diligence.
