Double-tap reactions will be added to WhatsApp

WhatsApp is going to launch a new double-tap reaction function that will resemble features made popular by Instagram.

This update, which is now in beta testing on Android smartphones, aims to improve message exchanges and provide users with a faster way to respond to messages.

Users can respond to texts with a single heart emoji by double-tapping, according to a report from WABetainfo on the new feature. This update comes as part of WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to improve the user experience by adding functionality similar to Instagram’s direct messaging system.

Currently, only users enrolled in WhatsApp’s Android beta program have access to the double-tap reaction capability. Users who are interested in participating can do so by visiting the WhatsApp page on the Google Play Store. However, because there are only a limited number of invitations available, places are likely to fill up quickly.

By allowing responses to images, videos, and GIFs straight from the media viewer screen, double-tap reactions are intended to speed up user engagements. By removing the requirement for a lengthy press to access the reaction tray, this innovation is anticipated to save users a great deal of time.

Long-pressing a message will continue to allow users to choose from a wider variety of reactions if they would rather use a different emoji. The inability to turn off the double-tap feature, however, should be noted by users as it may cause unintentional responses to previous messages when scrolling through the chat history.

Excited about release

The functionality will likely become generally available in the upcoming weeks or months, as it is now in the testing phase. With the release of this functionality, WhatsApp has demonstrated its dedication to improving user experience and engagement on its network.

Users are advised to follow WhatsApp’s official channels for more information and updates on the feature deployment. They should also keep an eye out for news regarding the wider release of this functionality.
