CM Punjab Meets German Minister: Decades of History in Pakistan-German Relations

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with a delegation from Germany, which was headed by Svenja Schulze, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

During the meeting, all parties talked about ways to further develop trade and economic relations between their nations.

On this occasion, Germany received a 91.1 million euro donation for flood victims from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Additionally, both sides committed to working together on climate-friendly and clean energy initiatives, giving priority to solving environmental pollution and climate change.

According to Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has boosted its budget for environmental protection by 400% for the first time, and the required measures are being taken to eradicate environmental pollutants such as smog from the Province.

Additionally, the Chief Minister praised Germany’s cooperation in helping Pakistan obtain GSP Plus status and expressed gratitude for Germany’s contribution of 24 million euros for sustainable energy in Pakistan.

According to Mariyam Nawaz, Pakistan and Germany have had a long and cordial history, and their economic contacts are growing every day.

The government, she said, is dedicated to progressively raising women’s economic participation in the country’s growth, and the “plug and play” textile units and garments city projects would improve women’s economic empowerment.

The Punjabi Education and Health Sector Reforms were also briefed to the German delegation.

Svenja Schulze, the minister for Germany, was pleased to see women represented in parliament, government offices, and other spheres of society.

She commended the Garments City Project and congratulated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
