An assistant sub-inspector from the Kot Momin police station in Sargodha and his accomplice have been apprehended in connection with the alleged rape of a matriculation student.
An incident report was lodged at the Kot Momin police station. The initial report indicates that the student’s father was apprehended by the authorities some days prior. The ASI obtained the girl’s contact number and maintained communication.
On Saturday, the ASI’s accomplice enticed the student to a remote area under the guise of discussing the issue, and forcibly abducted her into a vehicle from the main road. He thereafter transported her to a residence on Muazamabad Road and purportedly assaulted her sexually.
The ASI thereafter arrived at the location and perpetrated the identical offense. Both suspects also inflicted abuse onto the minor.
Subsequent to the assault, the perpetrators abandoned the student outside her cousin’s residence late at night and escaped. The victim’s family subsequently lodged a complaint with the Kot Momin police station, resulting in the lodging of a case against the ASI and his accomplice.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz acknowledged the incident and instructed the authorities to ensure the suspects are prosecuted. She requested a report from the Punjab IGP, subsequent to which both suspects were apprehended.
An inquiry team comprising the SP investigation and the Kot Momin ASP was established.
