According to information, the 20-month-old girl who contracted the polio virus was said to have been afflicted in Liaquat Colony Pretabad in Hyderabad.
With 11 cases coming from Balochistan alone and the third from Sindh, this is the 16th case of polio that has been reported in Pakistan so far this year.
As they verify the child’s immunization status, Sindh polio officials reported that the child is undernourished.
One private media outlet was informed by the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication that “poliovirus has now been detected in 62 districts of the country and affected 16 children so far this year, indicating the persistent risk of polio infection to children in these communities and across the country.”
Nine youngsters contracted the debilitating illness within the first seven months of the infection.
Environment samples from Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Karachi West, Quetta, Loralai, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, according to a polio program official, found WPV1.
