The Sindh government grants Rs1.5 billion to fix Karachi’s roads damaged by rain.

Overseeing a meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah instructed the Local Government Department to launch an investigation into roads built or restored after 2022 that have subsequently been swept away.

The chief minister declared, “Strict action must be taken against those responsible. It is unacceptable for the quality of work to fall short of standards.”

The Chief Minister gave Ghani the task of starting an investigation into the roads that were built or fixed after 2022 and have subsequently sustained damage. “This demonstrates that the caliber of the work was not upheld, so they need to be held accountable,” he declared.

There are damaged roads covering 909,500 square feet in District South, 795,000 square feet in East, 832,000 square feet in Central, 13,750,000 square feet in West, 5,555,000 square feet in Korangi, 625,000 square feet in Malir, and 395,000 square feet in flyover and bridges.

The city needs to patch 120 roads, flyovers, and underpasses, including 20 in district South, 22 in East, seven in Central, 38 in West, 11 in Korangi, 12 in Malir, and 10 flyovers.

Attending the meeting at the CM House were Ministers of Planning and Development Nasir Shah and LG Saeed Ghani, as well as Mayor Murtaza Wahab of Karachi, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, P&D Chairman Najam Shah, LG Secretary Khalid Hyder Shah, Secretary of the Municipal Corporation of Karachi Afzal Zaidi, and Special Secretary of Finance Asghar Memon.

SIFC Increases Direct Foreign Investment: Investment in the Energy Sector Rises by 120%

The Special Investment Facilitation Council is intended to help Pakistan’s energy sector attract $585.6 million in direct foreign investment in 2024–2025. The amount invested at the same time previous year was $266.3 million.
