The government of Punjab has made the decision to prevent M-tags from being issued to cars without a fitness certificate in an effort to reduce smog.

In an effort to reduce smog, cars older than 30 would not be permitted to enter Lahore or use the roads between October and January.

In order to receive a M-tag, owners must now present the vehicle’s fitness certificate, registration book, and license.

The Services and General Administration Department has been requested to furnish information about government cars, and this restriction was put in place due to the extreme smog, according to Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan.

Furthermore, according to Bilal Akbar Khan, government cars will be the first to be subject to the fitness certificate requirement.

He made it clear that stopping only citizens was unacceptable. Both commercial and private cars would be subject to these rules.
