The World Economic Forum’s 2024 Global Risk Report states that experts have identified disinformation as a major issue that will impact the social, political, economic, and environmental spheres in many nations during the next two years.
According to the report, disinformation has a significant influence on Pakistan, placing it among the nations most afflicted. False narratives are causing social divisions, religious disputes, and sectarianism to grow, which is eroding public confidence and societal harmony. It also erodes democratic institutions and fuels political instability.
Next in line for this menace are the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Indonesia, after India.
