When General Zhang Youxia, the Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, he commended the Pakistan Army for its professionalism and steadfast dedication in its counterterrorism efforts.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that General Zhang met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to talk about defense cooperation, regional security, and shared interests. The meeting was attended by a high-level Chinese delegation.

General Zhang honored the martyrs of Pakistan by laying a wreath of flowers at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to start the visit. A Pakistan Army detachment offered a guard of honor during a ceremony demonstrating the cordial welcome given to the Chinese dignitary.

In their discussion, General Zhang conveyed China’s gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s efforts to fight terrorism and preserve regional stability. Beijing’s commitment to strengthening its strategic alliance with Islamabad was reiterated by him, who described the two countries’ relationship as “all-weather” and based on mutual trust.

Following a one-on-one meeting between General Zhang and COAS Munir, delegation-level negotiations took place. The two sides discussed how to improve regional stability, how to further expand defense cooperation, and the dynamics of regional security.

COAS Munir emphasized the Pakistan-China relationship’s tenacity, calling it a historic cooperation that has continuously withstood the difficulties brought on by changing global conditions. “This long-standing relationship, which is based on mutual trust and cooperation, is ready for more expansion,” he said.

Additionally, despite changing regional and international circumstances, the army chief expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for China’s unwavering assistance.

China’s steadfast dedication to deepening its strategic partnerships with Pakistan, especially in the areas of defense and regional security, is demonstrated by General Zhang’s visit.
