The Punjab government has been put on high watch by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) because this year’s monsoon rain is expected to be 35% heavier than usual.

PDMA says that different weeks in July will have different amounts of rain: 15 to 50 millimeters in the first week, 25 to 35 millimeters in the second week, 15 to 25 millimeters in Upper and South Punjab in the third week, and up to 70 millimeters in the last week of the month.

When the PDMA put out a message, they said that Upper, Central, and South Punjab would have heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. Due to monsoon rains and flash floods in hill torrents in South Punjab, there is a higher chance of flooding in cities.

All the necessary offices have been told because Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz told them to.

PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia said in the statement that district governments must make sure all safety steps are in place during the monsoon season. He ordered that rivers and sewage systems be cleaned right away.

Kathia talked about how important it is to work together and get ready early so that nature disasters don’t cause too much damage. Additionally, he told everyone to be careful during the wet season.
