Lt Gen Mirza posted as Karachi corps administrator

ISLAMABAD: The armed force on Wednesday announced its first real arrangements since the assuming control of its charge by Gen Qamar Bajwa a week ago, with the Karachi-based V Corps getting another boss.

As indicated by a declaration by the ISPR, Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza has been posted as the Corps Commander for Karachi. He is in no time serving as the Military Secretary at the General Headquarters.

Lt Gen Ghayur Mehmood will supplant him in the Military Secretary’s office. Gen Mehmood is serving as the Chief of Logistic Staff at the GHQ.

The posting of the occupant corps officer for Karachi, Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar, has not been reported. He is broadly tipped to be the following chief general of the Inter-Services Intelligence.

Gen Bajwa has set aside impressive opportunity to make key arrangements. The postponement has prompted to theory about the causes.

As per examiners, it is abnormal for the armed force to stay without a head of general staff (CGS), who is the operations and insight lead in the military, for 10 days, especially when troops are for all intents and purposes in a condition of war on both the eastern and western fringes. The position of CGS fell empty after Gen Zubair Hayat was hoisted as administrator of the joint head of staff board of trustees.

So also, the position held by Gen Bajwa before his arrangement as the armed force boss — assessor general for preparing and assessment — is lying empty. There are no less than two other staff positions at the GHQ that are additionally anticipating postings.
