Government eliminates 220 NA Secretariat positions.

The implementation of the austerity plan was approved by the Senate Finance Committee.

Within the National Assembly Secretariat, the plan encompassed a thorough examination and enhancement of the procedures for identifying, removing, assigning, and advancing roles. Moreover, it makes these procedures more transparent.

The first two of the three stages that make up the cost-cutting measures’ implementation have already been finished.

An annual savings of Rs 255 million were achieved in the first phase with the elimination of 90 superfluous positions across various grades.

Further savings of more than Rs 307 million were made yearly by eliminating 130 posts in the second phase, which covered grades 1 through 19.

All of these steps combined will result in annual savings of about Rs 563 million, with an additional Rs 400 million in savings anticipated from the third phase.

The ultimate goal of saving Rs 1 billion annually was the focus of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s initiatives.

The National Assembly Secretariat will no longer be hiring new staff members, according per a press release released on Thursday by the Finance Committee.

A subcommittee has been established to examine the 2018 National Assembly Secretariat Employees Act and bring it into compliance with the 1973 Civil Servants Act.

These revisions aim to enhance the promotion and appointment procedures and guarantee that the Secretariat’s staffing numbers correspond to its real demands.

Additionally, the gathering was informed that the National Assembly Secretariat has established a “Ticketing and Lodging Committee,” with officials from all relevant agencies participating.

Additionally, in order to use current technology to reduce paper waste, the meeting voted to start the process of digitizing the National Assembly Secretariat.

Aside from that, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq ordered that more blocks in the Parliament Lodges be built within the allotted period.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has praised the State Bank of Pakistan’s decision to lower its policy rate by an additional 2 percent, stating that the bank’s current 13 percent rate is encouraging for the nation’s economy.

He expressed optimism in a statement that the policy rate cut would encourage investment and further boost investor confidence in the country’s economy.

The prime minister said that decreasing the inflation rate also lowered the policy rate and that future inflation rate reductions will be even more pronounced.

GHQ Attack Case: Prosecution Seeks Bail Cancellation of CM KP & Other Accused, Indicts 9 More

25 defendants, including PTI officials, have non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Anti Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi for their failure to show up for court proceedings related to the GHQ attack case.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah added nine more suspects to the GHQ attack indictment list during today’s ATC Court sessions, bringing the total to 98.

Among the 61 defendants who appeared in court were Shah Mehmud Qureshi and the founder of the PTI.

Among those charged are Khadim Hussain Khokhar, Mehr Mohammad Javed, Chaudhary Asif, Zakir Ullah, Azeem Ullah, Shireen Mazatri, Major Retired Tahir Sadiq, and former MPA Rashid Hafeez.

A plea to cancel the bail of 23 suspects, including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has also been filed by the prosecution side.

In the GHQ attack, there were 119 accused in total.
