Defense Ties Between Iraq and Pakistan: Both Parties Agree to Increase Military Cooperation

The two countries have reiterated their dedication to deepening their defense cooperation.

The pledge was reaffirmed when General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee, met with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad, including Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al Sudani, Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad Saeed Al-Abbasi, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al Shammari, and Chief of Defense Forces General Abdul Ameer Rasheed Yar Allah.

The current regional climate, defense cooperation, and security were among the main topics of discussion between the two parties.

They looked at how the two nations may increase the extent of their military cooperation.

In the war against terrorism, the Iraqi military and political leadership recognized the sacrifices made by the Pakistani Armed Forces and praised their professionalism.
