The government of Pakistan is still pursuing a smuggling crackdown as part of its efforts to stabilize the country’s economy.
Significant quantities of illicit products were intercepted by government authorities nationwide this week, including 0.26 million liters of Iranian oil, 6,826 cartons of cigarettes, and 869 bolts of cloth.
3,789.64 metric tons of wheat and 13,471.5 metric tons of fertilizer have been recovered by the authorities as of September 1, 2023. 4.4 million cartons of illegal cigarettes and 35,134.51 metric tons of sugar were also seized.
Additionally, 157,055 bolts of cloth and 18.31 million liters of Iranian oil were seized as a result of the crackdown.
