An additional 65 cases of wild poliovirus have been verified to have occurred in the country, according to the National Institute of Health.
The case identified as coming from Killa Abdullah was validated by the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication.
Pakistan is taking action in response to the recurrence of wild poliovirus this year, which has resulted in the reporting of 65 cases so far.
This includes 27 individuals hailing from the province of Balochistan, 18 individuals hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18 individuals hailing from Sindh, and one individual hailing from both the province of Punjab and the city of Islamabad.
A number of mass vaccination efforts were carried out by the Pakistan Polio Program over the course of a year, with the goal of delivering the vaccine to children at their homes.
It is planned that the December Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign in Balochistan Province would start on December 30. During this campaign, vaccinations will be administered to each of the province’s 37 districts.
