Beginning in Islamabad, the 13th Consultative Assembly on the International Criminal Court and the 45th Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action have begun.

During these two days, lawmakers from all over the world have gathered to engage in candid discussions with their colleagues, academics, experts, government officials, and representatives from international organizations and the international criminal court.

The National Assembly, Senate of Pakistan, and PIPs were praised by Monica Adame, Secretary General of Parliamentarians For Global Action, for hosting the event and making the necessary arrangements. According to her, the importance of lawmakers in protecting the public’s rights is the reason why lawmakers from 39 nations have come together for this occasion.

The forum, she said, promotes human rights and places a strong emphasis on the necessity of bolstering the legal system both domestically and globally.

According to Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who welcomed visitors from all over the world to Islamabad, lawmakers have responsibilities beyond just passing laws.

According to him, it is our duty to care for every citizen in our constituencies, and we are also responsible for matters like nutrition and drinking water.

According to him, we cannot ignore the horrors occurring in Gaza, where women and children are being killed and hospitals are being bombarded. As such, it is our duty to speak out against this aggression and human rights violation in every European parliament.

He claimed that the unresolved problem of Kashmir, where Indian forces are violating human rights, killing people, burying mass graves, and changing the landscape, is still ongoing.

According to Syed Naveed Qamar, the Forum’s president, putting Pakistan back on the international scene is a proud moment for him. He also stated that the PGA’s mission is to enable people to live fearlessly. He asserted that we must learn from one another’s achievements and shortcomings.

“Palestine and Kashmir are the biggest examples of double standards, and this forum successfully creates an environment that promotes change,” Senator Sherry Rehman said in her speech to the event.

As differences lead to conflicts, it enables us to navigate our differences and engage in open discourse to advance justice, she said.

Upholding human rights, establishing the rule of law, and improving both domestic and international criminal justice are the main objectives of the event.

Rome Statute of International Criminal Court will be a major topic of discussion.
