Terrorism From Afghanistan: Terrorists Targeting Forces And Civilians With Weapons Left By US Forces

Published

on

Terrorist attacks from Afghan territory have escalated in Pakistan in recent years, and militants have access to weaponry that the US military left behind in Afghanistan.

While there is ample proof of the usage of foreign weapons imported from Afghanistan on Pakistani soil, the region’s security has suffered greatly as a result of this supply of weapons to terrorists.

In the twenty years that the Pakistan Army has been combating terrorism, Afghan terrorists attempt to cross the Pakistan-Afghan border and attack both security troops and innocent civilians.

In response to information on Khawarij’s presence, Security Forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur District on the evening of October 23–24, 2024.

Pakistan Army troops killed one high-value target, including two suicide bombers, and nine Khawarij during the operation.

From the deceased Khawarij, several foreign weapons, such as M4, AKM-65, and Ak47 ammo and explosives, were also found.

Two violent clashes occurred on September 19–20, 2024, which claimed the lives of twelve Khawarij.

SKS, AK-47, RPD, and LMG were among the many foreign weapons, ammo, and explosives that were found.

In Mustang District, Security Forces carried out an intelligence-based operation on August 18–19, 2024.

During the operation, three BLA terrorists were killed and three others were wounded following a heated gunfight.

Numerous foreign weaponry, including as RPD LMGs, 8MM AKs, RPG launchers, and explosives, were also found among these deceased terrorists.

An intelligence-based operation was carried out by security personnel in the Sambaza neighborhood of Zhob District, Balochistan, on May 14, 2024.

Numerous foreign weapons have also been found, including type-69 RPGs, PKM machine guns, M-16/A4 MD 90 assault rifles, AKM assault rifles, PG-7V RPG rockets, M-46 hand grenades, F-1 hand grenades, and explosives.

Since April 21, 2024, security troops have been fighting militants in the Zhob District along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

Security personnel in Khyber District carried out an intelligence-based operation on April 29, 2024, in response to reports of terrorist activity.

Terrorist leaders Raziq and Qari Wajid Alias Qari Briyal were among the four terrorists slain during the operation.

The operation also resulted in the destruction of terrorist hideouts and the recovery of several foreign weaponry, including as M4/A1 and AK-47 guns, as well as explosives and ammunition.

The Afghan Interim Government’s assertions that it will not use it against its own country, Pakistan, are seriously called into question by the smuggling of contemporary international weapons from Afghanistan to Pakistan and the TTP’s use of these weapons against the security forces and the Pakistani populace.

According to the Pentagon, at the time of withdrawal, the Afghan military had received over 400,000 combat weapons from the United States, with another 300,000 still in stock.

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces received 18.6 billion dollars in equipment from the United States between 2005 and August 2021, according to the Pentagon.

Following the US exit, these weaponry aided the TTP in conducting terrorist attacks across international borders.

In addition to arming the TTP, these data show that the Afghan government is also giving other terrorist groups safe access.
