Eight troops were martyred and ten terrorists were slain in the Bannu Cantt attack. ISPR

As a result of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members’ permission to resettle in the formerly tribal region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been experiencing an increase in violence. On Monday, ten terrorists were killed in an attack after they attempted to force their way into Bannu Cantonment, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the terror attack claimed the lives of eight army soldiers as martyrs. It also stated how security forces’ quick response prevented widespread casualties and destruction.

As a demonstration of the military’s commitment to combating terrorism, the ISPR hailed the security forces’ response as heroic.

On the other hand, the ISPR also stated that the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, which is presently based in Afghanistan and receives full support from Kabul, was behind the most recent attack and had previously behaved similarly.

Once more, it demonstrates the Taliban-led Afghan interim government’s inability to take decisive action against the terror groups operating inside the country, which have grown to pose a major threat to the peace and security of the surrounding area.

According to the ISPR, Pakistan has consistently requested that the Afghan interim government take the required measures to combat terrorist organisations because of this.

The ISPR pledged to take all necessary measures to counter the security risks arising from Afghanistan, protect the public, and preserve national security.

Islamabad was compelled to begin Operation Azm-e-Istehkam due to the Afghan Taliban’s unwillingness to pursue the TTP. Nevertheless, the PTI, which has been in control of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2013 and which, under Imran Khan, opened the door for the return of terrorists, is making efforts to combat them.

The ISPR released information regarding the attack on Monday, stating that the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Bannu Cantt but were thwarted by the security forces. Afterward, they struck a vehicle carrying explosives with the outside wall.

Eight servicemen lost their lives in the ensuing explosion, which also destroyed nearby infrastructure in addition to damaging the wall.

But during the counterattack and the hours-long clearance operation that was conducted in the region, the security forces were able to eliminate all ten of the terrorists.

Along with four sepoys, Ashfaq Hussain, Subhan Majeed, Imtiaz Khan, and Arsalan Aslam, Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zill-e-Hussain, Hawaldar Shehzad Ahmed, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali were also there.

In a notification released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), it was said that due to incapacity and poor management, CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja suspended Sindh Election Commissioner Sharifullah, Director of Administration Azhar Hussain Tunio, and Karachi Election Officer Khuda Bux for 120 days.

According to the notification, the three officers will stay in Karachi till the investigation is over and new directives are given.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) vehemently objected to Omar Ayub Khan’s disinformation against the CEC and its members earlier in August.

In this regard, an incorrect statement was made on a TV program, claiming that the entire amount spent on the general elections of 2024 was Rs 14.5 billion, however the ECP wanted more funding from the previous administration in order to get an opportunity for postponing the elections, said a statement.

The Lahore High Court’s three-member full bench made the verdict in response to attorney Nadeem Sarwar’s application.

Sarwar begged the LHC to prevent the PTI from holding a public gathering in Lahore tomorrow.

The LHC bench rejected the application on the grounds that the petitioner is not an “affected party.”

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a lawsuit in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the arrests made in advance of the party event at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore.

According to specifics, Sheikh Imtiaz and Yasir Gillani submitted the plea in an attempt to be protected from the detention of its leaders and workers in advance of the September 21 event.

The argument claimed that the Punjabi police are detaining party members in violation of their constitutional right to hold rallies.

In order to allow for a peaceful rally, the petitioners asked the court to order the authorities to cease making arrests.

A delegation from the ICC stops at Pindi Stadium to assess Champions Trophy arrangements.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials briefed the ICC delegation on the occasion as they also inspected the Pindi Stadium’s upgrades and existing amenities. The security personnel met with the group from the ICC as well.

In addition to the National Stadium in Karachi, the group will also stop by the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Next year, from February 19 to March 9, three stadiums in Pakistan—the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and the National Stadium in Karachi—will host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy.

Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa make up Group B, while Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh make up Group A.
