Long lines of applicants at the Lahore passport office are caused by a staffing shortage.

Due to the lack of gazetted officers, the Garden Town Passport Office in Lahore is experiencing a large influx of applications during the night shift. Data entry operators are in charge of the operations.

Numerous operational problems, such as the random token distribution and the current disputes involving the data entry employees, have come to light as a result of the rise in foot traffic.

It has come to light that a subordinate officer in Grade 15, Aamir Hassan, has started interrogating people seeking passports. The claim made by Hassan that he is in charge of the office has left both employees and applicants perplexed.

The gazetted officer’s alleged unavailability at the Garden Town Passport Office further compounded the case. For people, many of whom have been waiting for a long time to file their applications, this has resulted in a longer wait time and an increased workload for the current personnel.

Similar demand is currently being felt on the night shift, which was first introduced to handle the surplus of daytime applications. Applicant anger and excessive wait times are attributed to a chaotic environment where tokens are provided arbitrarily.

The increase in applications, combined with the lack of a gazetted official, has caused a backlog in the passport issuing procedure.
