A strong heatwave on Friday caused a wildfire to flare out at Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park once more, according to ARY News.

The fire spread to the Margalla Hills and started close to Kalenjar settlement. Officials from the CDA hurried to the location to put out the fire after receiving the information.

The fire scene has also been reached by fire department trucks.

In a video taken by bystanders, smoke could be seen billowing from Margalla Hills. The residents voiced concerns about protecting the wildlife.

There have been reports of two fire incidences recently, one in the hills near Saidpur and the other in Chiran Di Gali. The fire took around seven hours to put out with the help of three helicopters from the Prime Minister’s office and the defense officials. However, there was another fire in the hills at fifteen separate spots the following day. After eight hours of intense work, the firefighters and the three helicopters were called in once more to put out the fire.

Spread across 12,605 hectares, the Margalla Hills National Park is governed by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
