After the Men in Green played poorly in the series’ final and fourth Twenty20 International match against England at The Oval, captain of the Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam has defended the players’ selection.
Pakistan lost the series 2-0, with the hosts winning by seven wickets. In 15.3 overs and seven wickets down, they managed to chase the 158-run mark.
We are on track, but we can’t seem to click, Babar Azam stated at the news conference following the game. In the fourth Twenty20 International match versus England, Babar acknowledged that the Pakistani team faltered.
Although Pakistan’s middle overs innings collapsed, he was still pleased with the way they batted during the powerplay.
Babar defended the team’s player selection, saying that each member was chosen just for their skill.
We had to take our chances because England bowls quite well. Prior to the World Cup, those matters need to be resolved. We had some good moments of play, but overall it was a good team effort. To win, though, you have to give it your all,” he continued.
It is important to note that with the previous edition’s finalists skipping the warm-up matches for this year’s big event, Pakistan and England’s four-match Twenty20 International series was their last chance to prepare for the Twenty20 World Cup 2024.
